2010's Per-Capita is due

2010's Per-Capita is $42.19 per member. (Same as last year! What a deal!) If you would like to contribute, please leave your check or money in the offering plate. Be sure to indicate it is for Per-Capita.

What is Per-Capita?
Per-Capita is a set amount of money (apportionment) per member that congregations pay to the larger Presbyterian Church (U.S.A). Congregations (through their sessions) pay an annual ammount of money per church member to their respective presbyteries. The Per-Capita amount requested is a combined total of requests from that congregation's presbytery, the synod in which the presbytery is located and the General Assembly -- based on their respective budgets for the coming year(s).

Spring Spruce Up

Annual Mission Auction March 20th!

The Annual Mission Auction is this Saturday, March 20th!! The evening begins with a Chili feed at 6 pm, followed by silent auction bidding through 7 pm, followed by a live auction!

We are still looking for items so please check your garages, attics, closets and even ask some local businesses for donations! Feel free to drop off items during the Church Office hours (Mon-Fri 9 am - 1 pm). Sign up sheets are still available for those wishing to help with setup and cleanup. Contact Diane Walters if you need more information.

Annual Mission Auction 2010

Hayride

The Middle Schoolers (grades 6th-8th) students will be going on a hayride on October 18th. They enjoyed burgers and bowling in September. They hope to do an "outside of church" activity every month. Calling All Volleyball Enthusiasts!!

Permanent Fund Dividend

It is the time of year for most Alaskans where we find ourselves with the gift of the permanent divident. As you ponder what to do with yours, please consider these options:

Tithe your permanent dividend to the church. That would be $130.50 - or give any amount as a gift to the church!
Give to the 50/50 Club. The 50/50 Club is a program where half of your gift stays in our Church for missions and the other half goes to the Presbytery.
Help pay down our mortgage principle or donate to the new carpet.
Gift to the Mary Magdalene Home Alaska. Started by Rev. Ken Smith and members of our congregation, you could help this mission by donating directly or indirectly by attending their Annual Tea & Auction on October 24th.

As we spend our Permanent Fund Dividends this year, please remember the Church and/or your favorite charity. Let us always give God the first fruits in thanksgiving.

Annual ERPC Picnic!!

Eagle Scout Project @ ERPC

Grady Hopper’s Eagle Scout project is to make curb ramps in our sidewalk area. This will improve access to the handicap parking spaces and make it easier for Food Pantry clients. Grady is having a car wash on June 13th to help raise monies for this project. He hopes to have the project completed by late June or early July.

Vacation Bible School wil be June 8th - 12th!! This year's focus is on the Lord's Prayer as we venture through an African Safari! New Bookkeeper

The Personnel Committee will be making a decision soon on a new bookkeeper. The position became vacant on March 19th and was then advertised. Five applicants were scheduled for invterviews. We expect to fill the position with no interruption to the church's financial operation and reporting responsibilities. Linda Homan, who held this position for many years, is assisting during the interim. The Personnel Committee is greatful to Linda for stepping in.

Mortgage Payment

Session has agreed with the recommendation to pay down our mortgage by $100,000 as described at the recent informational meeting, where comments received from members were favorable. This will result in saving several thousand dollars in interest payments and reduce the time remaining before the mortgage is paid in full. Thank you for your support.

Trip to the Imaginarium Science Discovery Center

Sign up for our field trip to the Imaginarium on April 25th. Meet us at the church at 12:30 pm to carpool. Eat lunch ahead of time as only snacks will be provided. Admission fees are: child (2-12 yrs.) $5, adult (13-64 yrs.) $5.50, and seniors (65+ yrs.) $5.

Daylight Savings Time begins Sunday, March 8 at 2 AM this year. "Spring forward" to be on time for church services!
